Gold and budget

Server prices and material costs determine value. Compare completed sales and your own spending plan.

When to choose it

Choose Tailoring when a particular crafted cloth set fits your spell school or healing assignment. Spellfire is not a general nature or shadow damage set. Shadow Bolt Warlocks should compare Frozen Shadoweave, while fire-focused casters may value Spellfire. Do not choose by armor class alone.

First investment and budget

List the exact pieces you plan to wear and the cloth-cooldown materials they require. Compare them with dungeon, reputation and raid alternatives. A crafted item is less attractive if you will replace it immediately or cannot afford the accompanying gems and enchants.

TBC rules and availability

Specialization requirements, set bonuses and phase availability matter. Tailoring does not provide Wrath-style cloak embroidery. Spellstrike is a separate caster option; check the tailoring requirement for its set bonus instead of assuming every wearer receives the full benefit.
