Fire Mage in WoW TBC
Commit to sustained fire damage and learn when movement costs you casts.
Fire offers a sustained caster playstyle with critical strikes and Ignite. It is a sensible alternative to Arcane when you prefer a less mana-intensive damage plan, provided the encounter does not punish fire damage. Resistances and immunity can change the choice.
How Fire Mage plays
Keep the required Scorch debuff covered when your assignment calls for it, then focus on efficient Fireball casting and suitable cooldown windows. Do not add every available spell to a rotation simply because it is on the action bar. Movement and threat management still matter.
Leveling a Fire Mage
Fire can quest effectively, but Frost usually gives beginners more control and recovery tools. Test how often you need to stop and drink and whether you enjoy finishing enemies before they reach you. Your leveling spec need not be your eventual raid spec.
Fire Mage in raids & PvP
Fire supplies sustained raid damage. Discuss Scorch coverage with other Fire Mages to avoid redundant work. For arena, compare Frost control; for supported raid burst, compare Arcane. The useful question is which encounter and group plan you are joining.
