Affliction emphasizes damage-over-time effects and raid support. Its value depends on debuff assignments and encounter timing. Arena SL/SL is a hybrid with Demonology, not evidence that every deep Affliction raid build is an arena default.
How Affliction Warlock plays
Maintain relevant damage-over-time effects without clipping them unnecessarily, manage Life Tap safely, and apply the curse assigned by your group. Curse of Elements supports fire and frost in TBC; Curse of Shadow supports shadow and arcane. Identical curse effects do not stack from multiple Warlocks.
Leveling an Affliction Warlock
Affliction can level effectively through sustained damage, draining and pet support. Start with controlled pulls before trying multiple enemies. A damage-over-time spell on every nearby creature is not safe if you cannot survive their simultaneous attacks.
Affliction Warlock in raids & PvP
Raids may value an Affliction support slot while preferring Destruction for additional damage positions. In PvP, compare specific hybrid builds and partners. This distinction matters more than a broad promise that one named spec is best in all content.
