Assassination Rogue in WoW TBC

Assassination offers a Mutilate-centered dagger playstyle in TBC. Mutilate requires positioning behind the target and works with poison interactions. This is not the later-expansion execute-centric Assassination identity.
How Assassination Rogue plays
Manage combo points, energy, poisons and rear positioning while selecting finishers for the situation. Do not assume a later-expansion Envenom rotation transfers unchanged. A target you cannot safely reach from behind can undermine the appeal of the build.
Leveling an Assassination Rogue
Combat is generally a more straightforward solo leveling comparison because frequent rear positioning is awkward when enemies attack you. Try Assassination when the dagger fantasy is your priority, and assess whether its positioning requirements suit your regular content.
Assassination Rogue in raids & PvP
Combat is the usual raid damage comparison and Subtlety the common arena control comparison. Assassination can be a personal playstyle choice, but verify build-specific expectations with the group before investing in equipment or expecting the same raid role.
