Rogue in WoW TBC
A stealthy melee fighter with energy, combo points and control.
The Rogue toolkit uses energy and leather equipment. Its talent choice, equipment and group assignment determine how it feels in practice. Compare a leveling plan separately from the build you intend to use in raids or arena.
Combat is the usual raid-damage comparison, Subtlety the control-oriented arena comparison, and Assassination a positional dagger choice. Think about rear access, weapon availability and whether the content rewards sustained attacks or planned control windows. One PvP opener does not predict raid performance.

Combat Rogue
For raid damage, compare Combat first; for arena control, compare Subtlety. Mutilate Assassination is a distinct positional dagger style with different constraints. TBC Rogues cannot use axes, so Orc axe specialization is not a Rogue weapon benefit.
Assassination Rogue
Combat is the usual raid damage comparison and Subtlety the common arena control comparison. Assassination can be a personal playstyle choice, but verify build-specific expectations with the group before investing in equipment or expecting the same raid role.
Subtlety Rogue
Arena success depends on teamwork and decision making, not only burst. Combat is the raid comparison; Assassination is the positional dagger comparison. Expect a higher learning workload if you choose Subtlety as your first character.
