Restoration brings Chain Heal and a wide support toolkit. Chain Heal can heal targets outside your own party, while totem effects and Bloodlust remain party-scoped in TBC. Raid demand varies with roster and encounter, so invitations are never guaranteed.

How Restoration Shaman plays

Choose Chain Heal when injured targets are positioned to benefit from its jumps, and use direct heals when a tank needs focused recovery. Place totems thoughtfully and plan Mana Tide for your party’s resources. Avoid spending a group-healing spell on a situation it cannot reach.

Leveling a Restoration Shaman

Enhancement or Elemental is usually more practical for solo leveling. Restoration can level with a regular dungeon group. Keep offensive equipment for questing and consider whether your actual play schedule supports a healer-first route.

Restoration Shaman in raids & PvP

Raid groups often value multiple Shaman parties and flexible healing assignments. Bloodlust or Heroism lasts 40 seconds for the party and is shared across all Shaman specs. Arena play has different survival and casting requirements from raid Chain Heal throughput.

Strengths

  • ✓Chain Heal for suitably positioned targets
  • ✓Party totems and Mana Tide support

Trade-offs

  • ✗Group-heal value depends on target spacing
  • ✗Healing talents make solo questing slower
