Beast Mastery is a strong TBC raid damage choice and an accessible solo leveling route. A substantial part of your output comes from a living, attacking pet. Exotic pets belong to a later expansion and are not part of this recommendation.
How Beast Mastery Hunter plays
Coordinate Auto Shot and Steady Shot, activate Kill Command after your own critical strikes, and use Bestial Wrath with suitable damage windows. Practice pet recall and positioning before optimizing shot timing. A pet stranded behind a target or killed by an encounter mechanic changes the value of the spec.
Leveling a Beast Mastery Hunter
Level with a durable pet and learn how Growl behaves in groups. Turn pet taunts off when a player is tanking. Carry pet food, train useful abilities, and practice recovering from a resisted trap instead of assuming the pet will solve every pull.
Beast Mastery Hunter in raids & PvP
Raids value reliable damage and Ferocious Inspiration for the party. In PvP, Bestial Wrath creates pressure, but opponents can exploit line of sight and pet control. Marksmanship offers a different arena toolkit; Survival contributes Expose Weakness in raid compositions.
