Beast Mastery Hunter in WoW TBC
Your pet isn't a sidekick. It's half your damage and all of your heart.
Beast Mastery makes your pet a true second damage source — exotic beasts, Bestial Wrath, and a kit built around keeping your companion alive and swinging. It's the most forgiving, most "press buttons and watch numbers go up" Hunter spec, and one of the best levelling and solo experiences in the game.
How Beast Mastery Hunter plays
Beast Mastery has one of the most forgiving rotations in the game. You send your pet in first, keep Serpent Sting and Hunter's Mark on the target, then settle into a steady shot priority: weave Steady Shot between your auto-shots, fire Arcane Shot when you have spare mana, and hit Kill Command whenever your pet lands a crit. Bestial Wrath paired with Intimidation is your burst button. The real skill is management rather than speed — keeping your companion alive and on target while you maintain a smooth weave without clipping auto-shot.
Leveling a Beast Mastery Hunter
This is the fastest, safest levelling spec in TBC. Your pet holds aggro while you fire from range, so you rarely take a hit and almost never stop to eat or drink. You can tag two or three mobs at once and let the pet tank while you burn them down — questing solo from 1 to 70 feels effortless, and downtime between pulls is close to zero.
Beast Mastery Hunter in raids & PvP
In raids Beast Mastery brings dependable ranged damage plus Ferocious Inspiration — a raid-wide damage buff that fires whenever your pet crits — and utility like Misdirection to hand threat straight to the tank. Its ceiling sits below Marksmanship on most fights, but it is stable and forgiving of gear. In PvP, Bestial Wrath and The Beast Within give it scary burst and fear immunity, making it a strong duelist and battleground roamer.
