Best Race for Hunter in WoW TBC

Race is a permanent choice in The Burning Crusade, and racial abilities meaningfully change how a Hunter performs in raids and in PvP. Here are the best Hunter races on the TBC Classic Anniversary realm for each faction, why they win, and every race the class can be.

Best Alliance race

Draenei

Heroic Presence (+1% party hit) is huge for a hit-starved class, and helps your whole group. Dwarf is the classic alternative for Gun Specialization's +1% crit.

All Alliance options

  • DwarfGun Specialization (+1% crit with guns), Stoneform (clears bleed/poison/disease + armor), Frost Resistance.
  • Night ElfQuickness (+1% dodge), Shadowmeld (stealth while still), Nature Resistance, Wisp Spirit.
  • Draenei — recommendedHeroic Presence (+1% hit to your whole party), Gift of the Naaru (heal-over-time), Shadow Resistance. New in TBC.

Best Horde race

Orc

Command adds +5% pet damage (a big chunk of a Hunter's total) and Blood Fury boosts your attack power — ideal for Beast Mastery and Marksmanship. Troll is very close thanks to Berserking and Bow Specialization crit.

All Horde options

  • Orc — recommendedBlood Fury (attack & spell power burst), Command (+5% pet damage), Hardiness (-15% stun duration), Axe Specialization.
  • TaurenWar Stomp (AoE stun), Endurance (+5% base health), Nature Resistance, Cultivation.
  • TrollBerserking (on-use haste — a top throughput racial), Bow/Throwing Specialization (+1% crit), Beast Slaying, Regeneration.
  • Blood ElfArcane Torrent (AoE silence + restores mana), Magic Resistance (+5 all schools), Arcane Affinity (+10 Enchanting). New in TBC.

Hunter race for PvP

Troll Berserking gives burst haste for kiting, while Orc Hardiness helps survive stun chains. Dwarf Stoneform clears the Rogue/Hunter poison and bleed pressure.
