Restoration is widely considered the strongest healer in TBC — Chain Heal hits multiple targets efficiently, Mana Spring keeps everyone topped up, and Heroism/Bloodlust is a 30-second raid-wide cooldown so powerful that guilds plan entire compositions around having one.
How Restoration Shaman plays
Resto Shaman is efficient group healing built on Chain Heal. You bounce Chain Heal across clustered targets, top individuals with Lesser Healing Wave, keep Earth Shield on the tank, and manage your totem set — Mana Tide for regen, Healing Stream, Mana Spring. Positioning totems and keeping targets grouped for Chain Heal bounces is the core skill, and Bloodlust/Heroism is your signature raid button.
Leveling a Restoration Shaman
Resto is a support spec, not a leveller — solo kills are slow, so most Shamans level Enhancement or Elemental and respec for group content. As a healer you get instant dungeon invites, and Restoration is so valued that finding groups is never a problem once you reach the levelling dungeons.
Restoration Shaman in raids & PvP
In raids Resto is S-tier and often considered the best healer in TBC: Chain Heal is unmatched group throughput, Mana Tide fixes everyone's mana, and Bloodlust/Heroism is the single most powerful raid cooldown in the expansion. In PvP its Earth Shield, totems and instant heals make it a sturdy, utility-rich arena healer.
