Assassination is poison and precision — Envenom and Mutilate openers chain into devastating burst that can drop a target before they've had a chance to react. It's the premier burst-opener spec in PvP and a strong raiding option when execute windows matter.
How Assassination Rogue plays
Assassination is precision and poison. You open from stealth, build combo points with Mutilate (huge from behind), and spend them on Envenom and Rupture while keeping poisons applied, with Cold Blood guaranteeing a crit finisher. It is a busier, more positional rotation than Combat, rewarding careful energy pooling and poison management for maximum spike damage.
Leveling an Assassination Rogue
Assassination levels well once Mutilate comes online, with strong burst that drops single targets fast. It is a touch more fiddly than Combat — you want to strike from behind and manage poisons — and multi-mob pulls are riskier. Stealth and Vanish let you control every engagement while you quest to 70.
Assassination Rogue in raids & PvP
In raids Assassination offers strong single-target damage and shines in execute-heavy fights, though its positional demands make Combat the safer pick for many. In PvP it is elite: a Cheap Shot opener into Cold Blood Envenom can end a fight before the enemy reacts, one of the deadliest burst openers in the game.
