Fire Mage in WoW TBC
Big crits, bigger crits, and the occasional satisfying explosion.
Fire leans on Ignite and crit-fishing for burst windows, with Pyroblast crits that light up the damage meter. It's the weakest of the three Mage specs in early TBC but has a loyal following for its high-risk, high-reward crit-chasing playstyle.
How Fire Mage plays
Fire is a crit-chasing rotation built around Ignite. You spam Fireball, keep Improved Scorch stacks on the boss to raise everyone's fire damage, and fish for crits that roll into a bigger Ignite. Combustion and trinkets line up an explosive Pyroblast burst window. Managing Ignite munching and Scorch upkeep is what separates a good Fire Mage from an average one.
Leveling a Fire Mage
Fire levels with big, satisfying damage — Fireball and Pyroblast delete single targets quickly — but it is squishy and crit-reliant, so an unlucky streak can leave you in trouble. Frost Nova and Blink cover your escapes. It is a fun, high-variance levelling ride rather than the safest one.
Fire Mage in raids & PvP
In raids Fire shines in crit-heavy groups and brings Improved Scorch, which boosts the fire damage of every caster on the target, though its damage is streakier than Arcane. In PvP, Combustion plus a Pyroblast crit can burst someone down instantly, making it a scary duelist when the crits land your way.
